The first double deck buses in Blackburn were Leyland TD1 with Leyland Lowbridge bodies, starting services in November 1929.

The livery continued on from the trams being dark olive green & ivory. Originally the roofs were painted white, but this was altered on first re-paint to olive green.

Two further batches of TD1's, but with highbridge bodies, arrived in 1930 and 1931 and a batch of TD2's in 1932.

They began to be withdrawn from late 1946 and the last two, No.'s 28 and 32, being taken out of service in August 1951.
