Entering service between June and August 1979, No.'s 125-130 were the first vehicles to be painted in the 2nd version of the Blackburn Borough Transport livery. To commemorate 50 years of bus operations, No.129 was painted in a replica of the 1929 livery at new.

They were also the first batch to be fitted with 'reverse' staircases and two-piece folder doors.

They retained the same red vinyl seating in the upper deck but downstairs they were fitted with red moquette seating in a new arrangement that reduced seating capacity to 43.
